OMG! Rob Pattinson In the 'Remember Me' Trailer!

Ladies, I have important news: we've got another Robert Pattinson movie to "squeee" over. The New Moon heartthrob stars in Summit's romantic drama Remember Me, in which RPattz apparently gets to -- dare I say it? -- act his little butt off. By which I mean, throwing punches and yelling at James Bond and being sensitive and making out with Emilie de Ravin, all while rocking an American accent! Sigh. I can't wait.

Ok, so Remember Me is a gimme - of course every Twilight fan is going to run to buy tickets to watch ~~Edward Cullen~~ Rob Pattinson be romantic and emo and, most importantly, have a sex scene or two or three. (I'm extrapolating from the one shot of Pattinson and de Ravin with an L sheet covering them in bed in the trailer.) And your boyfriends and husbands probably won't want to be dragged to see it any more than they did the Twilight films. But judging from the very first trailer, Remember Me might just offer Pattinson his first big chance to prove his acting chops in a widely seen release, following dramatic but quirky turns in indies like Little Ashes and How to Be.

Remember Me is directed by Allen Coulter, who made his feature debut with Hollywoodland after directing episodes of "Sex and the City" and "The Sopranos." Take from that what you will. Joining its pretty pair onscreen are Pierce Brosnan as Pattinson's father and Chris Cooper as de Ravin's cop dad, which means three of four lead characters are played by foreign actors masking their accents, always a gamble. But I kinda think Pattinson's got his American talk on lockdown. And did I mention the being sensitive and making out? I'm so there.

Here's the first official synopsis and photos from Remember Me, which comes out March 12, 2010:

"In the romantic drama Remember Me, Robert Pattinson plays Tyler, a rebellious young man in New York City who has a strained relationship with his father (Pierce Brosnan) ever since tragedy separated their family. Tyler didn't think anyone could possibly understand what he was going through until the day he met Ally (Emilie de Ravin) through an unusual twist of fate. Love was the last thing on his mind, but as her spirit unexpectedly heals and inspires him, he begins to fall for her. Through their love, he begins to find happiness and meaning in his life. But soon, hidden secrets are revealed, and the circumstances that brought them together slowly threaten to tear them apart. Remember Me is an unforgettable story about the power of love, the strength of family, and the importance of living passionately and treasuring every day of one's life."

2. This movie seems utterly forgettable, the plot seems so pointless. But I don't suppose that matters. I will say Pattinson does a good American/New York accent, as opposed to Brosnan whose accent may be one of the worst ever recorded, did he pick it up by watching the Paulie Walnuts guide to speech? Chris Coopers New York seems bad too. These arent normally something I care about with regard to a film, but there just so bad. If this movie makes it it will be all based on Pattinsons broodyness and its ability to pull in a crowd of low teen girls. Hope its not rated R for his sake and the sake of the box office.

5. I'll see it for Cooper, Brosnan and Claire (in that order).....Pattinson still hasn't sold me.

6. wow! its very very good! props on the trailer and editing! very intriguing! Quite honestly, I didn't know what to expect! But it looks like the director manage to get a lot of substantial footage to weave a complex yet coherent story; and an awesome cast (Pierce, Emilie, Chris, Robert, Ruby, Tate) giving credible and passionate performances despite all the frenzy surrounding the shoot.

On another note, it is also inspiring to see Robert Pattinson’s versatility bloom as an actor and exec. producer still through all of the pressures placed on him in the past year. I wish him the best of luck in his many future endeavors and never loose sight.

Looking forward to seeing the completed film!

8. I'm actually pleasantly surprised with Pattinson with this trailer. Twilight is an atrocious franchise and seems to sap an actual potential he has right out of him. But it looks like he actually has something going for him, prob. won't see this, but good for him.

10. twilight just give him a lot more opportunities to beocm a better actor..as a twilight fan i must say his performance as a great actor will be well known in his role in this movie

The one person you didn't cite is the reason I'm excited for this film: Jenny Lumet, whose screenwriting debut was last year's "Rachel Getting Married," co-wrote the screenplay for "Remember Me," too. I love Chris Cooper to pieces, but frankly, if it weren't for Ms. Lumet, I would absolutely not be sold by this trailer, which makes the film look kind of sudsy for me.

12. This actually looks a lot more promising than I expected. Glad to hear that Rob's had some more dialect lessons since Twilight. Seems actually watchable.

13. Really looking forward to seeing this. I think Twilight was just showing the surface of Robert Pattinson’s acting skills, can’t wait to see him in a role with more depth.

Other signs that this movie is going to be good:
1 – it has Chris Cooper. He’s always great.
2 – great songs in the trailer, especially “Asleep” by The Album Leaf (the one that plays about halfway through). That song is just about as dreamy as Robert himself!
